Ben Dessen's Action Hub
My dream is to inspire and educate people about the amazing wildlife we share this world with and our critical role in conserving and protecting it. Each and every single day I take another step forward in realising my dream. I believe that through awareness and understanding people can gain a better appreciation of all animals and the vital role each and every one of us play in ensuring their survival.
DeforestAction: Project Borneo 3D aims to save endangered rainforest and orangutans, create awareness about deforestation, provide a sustainable livelihood for the local community and broadcast all of this to the world through a 3D movie. The project is led by acclaimed conservationist Dr. Willie Smits and Orangutan Outreach - you can learn more about the approach in Willie's TED Talk.
I need your help! If I can recruit 500 supporters and raise $5,000 through my network, I'll be invited to visit Borneo to be part of the project! The funds raised will be used to purchase habitat in Borneo to be set aside as wildlife reserves.
Together we can make the survival of orangutans a reality. Please consider making a donation to sponsor land and join my network of supporters through facebook below, or by clicking 'Register' in the top right hand corner of this page .
Check out my blog for more information about the wildlife of Borneo and what i've been up to!
Thanks for your support!
How You Can Help!
You can help by joining my DeforestAction Network and by donating to support the project! As an applicant to the 3D Movie project, I have a special opportunity: I need to recruit 500 supporters and help raise $5,000 to earn an opportunity to visit Borneo and be part of the DeforestAction project in person! You can keep track of my progress below:
What is DeforestAction?
Youth across the planet have united to create DeforestAction - a global collaborative project to halt the destruction of rainforests, create a permanent home for orang-utans, and save the planet. From schools, homes and communities across the world, this project is one of the most important of our time, driven by youth for the future of the world.
The forests of the world are disappearing fast. If we don't do something soon, they will all be destroyed, taking away the habitat of orangutans and other wildlife. In Indonesia alone, a forest the size of 300 football fields is being cut down every hour - to make way for palm oil plantations.
