Taroona High School's Action HubWe have earned 231,269 points for our actions so far! (What are points for?)
Welcome to our Action Hub!
Our school is part of a global movement of students and schools helping to save endangered rainforest and orangutans, create awareness about deforestation, and provide a sustainable livelihood for the local community. The project is led by acclaimed conservationist Dr. Willie Smits and Orangutan Outreach - you can learn more about the approach in Willie's TED Talk.
Will you support our work for DeforestAction? Each school has a goal of recruiting 500 students and supporters and raising $10,000 - and we're hoping you can help!
You can donate below to sponsor land to be redeveloped as part of this project, and join our network of supporters through a quick web site signup with TakingITGlobal, the global education community helping make the project happen.More About DeforestACTION
Youth across the planet have united to create DeforestAction - a global collaborative project to halt the destruction of rainforests, create a permanent home for orang-utans, and save the planet. From schools, homes and communities across the world, this project is one of the most important of our time, driven by youth for the future of the world.
The forests of the world are disappearing fast. If we don't do something soon, they will all be destroyed, taking away the habitat of orangutans and other wildlife. In Indonesia alone, a forest the size of 300 football fields is being cut down every hour - to make way for palm oil plantations.
